The descent of the Giant of the Tourmalet at Carré Py’ Hôtel***.

The Carré Py Hôtel*** had the pleasure to welcome for the next months “the Giant of Tourmalet”.
Well known structure (Octave the Giant) in memory of Octave Lapize, the first cyclist having crossed the top of Tourmalet during the Tour de France in 1910. The Giant spent initially the complete year in theTourmalet, but suffering wintry weather conditions, he came down, for eleven years, in the valley in October to leave the first Saturday of June for the Tourmalet (2115m).

This come back is the first sign that autumn has begun and winter will arrive soon in Bigorre…

Cyclists, we look forward to seeing you next June to follow the Giant and to rise with several hundred other cyclists to the Col of the Tourmalet!!!
